Sikhs have pioneered various sports activities and have achieved international fame. Both men & women of different ages-from early twenties to the nineties have gained world-class stature and earned awards befitting our community. To recognize their fantastic achievements, the Sikh Foundation has prepared a calendar featuring original paintings of twelve pioneers consisting of Milkha Singh, Surjit Singh, Avneet Sidhu, Monty Panesar, Bishan Singh, Rajbir Kaur, Manjit Kaur, Fauja Singh and others who have excelled in the fields of cricket, track&field, hockey, cycling, marathon running etc.

The Sikh Foundation 2009 Calendar features the work of Sukhpreet Singh, an artist from Punjab. Sukhpreet Singh was born in Ludhiana, Punjab in 1969 and has been painting in oils since the age of 16. He has shown his work in India, the US and Canada, and in England, Australia, Italy, and Russia, including an exhibit at University of California at Berkeley in 1997. Subjects of his art include portraits and scenes of rural Punjab.
